    A fizzy, fun and delicious Christmas cocktail made with prosecco, rhubarb and ginger gin and cranberry juice. This simple cocktail is perfect for serving at holiday parties or for enjoying at weekends when it's time to chill. It's the best time of the year after all!

    Because it's never too early for cocktails....

    Someone pouring a Christmas cocktail topped with rosemary

    It's the BEST time of the year for a good reason!

    It's time to indulge in insanely delicious cocktails like my Ultimate Chocolate Martini, eat incredible food (and lots of it) and just have SO much fun!

    And as if that wasn't enough to be excited about I've got a BEAU-tiful cocktail to make you smile even more.

    I mean, how could you not be excited about the best time of the year when it's filled with things like this Christmas cocktail!?

    Christmas cocktails are so much fun to make and they don't need to be complicated or use loads of expensive liqueurs either. For this Santa's spritz, I chose to use 2 alcoholic ingredients and 2 juices.

    Ingredients

    • Prosecco
    • Rhubarb & Ginger Gin
    • Cranberry Juice
    • Tonic Water

    The Gin

    Oohst this stuff is SO delicious, I mean seriously.

    It's sweet and has a strong taste of rhubarb more than ginger. I love to put a tiny splash in a glass of prosecco, you don't need much or enjoy it with tonic water.

    It's perfect for making refreshing cocktails for any time of the year and it does so well in this Christmas cocktail!

    The brand I love to use is Edinburgh Gin (hometown smiley face) but a lot of companies make this flavour these days so it should be easy to find.

    How To Make Santa's Spritz Christmas Cocktail - Step By Step

    If I'm measuring out enough for just one or two I like to use a measuring jug so it can be easily mixed then poured into glasses.

    Tip: If you're making it for more people then try using a larger pitcher.

    Step by step photos for making a Christmas cocktail

    First measure out 1 part rhubarb and ginger gin followed by, 2 parts Prosecco and 1 part cranberry juice.

    Stir, then pour into glasses, top each glass with a splash of tonic water and a rosemary sprig.

    Tips For Making A Santa Spritz Christmas Cocktail;

    • Add ice to the measuring jug or pitcher to keep the drink cool
    • If you can't find rhubarb and ginger gin try using another sweet flavoured gin such as strawberry
    • The tonic water helps give a bitter edge to the cocktail and make it slightly more fizzy
    • If you don't like tonic water then try using sparkling water or sparkling lemonade

    And because you can't have drinks without nibbles here are some that would go really well...

    Nibbles To Go With Drinks

    • Easy Marinated Olives - Ready In 5 Mins
    • Crostini Three Ways
    • Roasted Fennel, Salami and Ricotta Crostini
    • Mini Sausage Pizzas with Pear and Gorgonzola

    Can I Make this Cocktail in Advance?

    Making drinks in advance is a little tricky and here's why;

    You need to keep it cool - you'll want to keep the cocktail cool because it's best served chilled, I mean, no one wants warm prosecco or gin, right? The problem is that if you add ice too early it will start to melt and dilute the cocktail, not good! This cocktail is so easy to make so making just before your guests arrive (or when they have arrived) isn't going to take up a lot of time.

    You don't want it going flat - because there are plenty bubbles in this cocktail from the prosecco and tonic water you can't prepare it too far in advance without it losing its sparkle. I'd make this maximum 30 minutes before guests arrive, put it in the fridge without ice then serve when they arrive.

      I enjoyed a rhubarb and ginger gin while I was in Ireland over the summer. It was delightful in a gin and tonic. I'll have to look for it here in the States to make your beautiful cocktail. Bring on the holidays!5 stars
