Basilicata is a southern mountainous region bordering both Calabria and Puglia. It’s a lesser-known and undiscovered Italian region steeped in history, culture and incredible food.
Basilicata is well known for using sweet and smoky dried peppers to flavour a lot of dishes known as ‘Peperoni Cruschi’ or ‘red gold’ but these are not easy to find outside of the region. You’ll also see a lot of lamb, hearty vegetables, bread, grains and pasta in this region’s cuisine.
