Umbria
Umbria, known as the ‘green heart of Italy’ is a landlocked region neighbouring Tuscany, Marche and Lazio. It’s famous for many incredible dishes and ingredients such as Porchetta, truffles, Castellucio lentils, game and olive oil.
We spent one month in Umbria volunteering on a farm and helping a family harvest their olives. We went through the whole process of picking the olives to labelling the beautiful bottles of bright green ‘Olio Nuovo’ it was an amazing experience and I’m yet to taste olive oil as good as that 10 years on.
