This Chocolate Martini is so rich and decadent you won’t be able to put it down. Made with three simple ingredients it’s the perfect way to end a meal on special occasions or treat yourself with the ultimate chocolate fix!
This Chocolate Martini is INSANE! It’s the ultimate dessert or sweet treat when you need that chocolate fix because c’mon we all NEED chocolate at some point, right?!
Whenever I feel like a smooth and silky chocolate dessert I always crave my chocolate panna cotta, it’s rich and chocolatey and always hits the spot.
The problem is, it needs time to set in the fridge and that ain’t good for last minute cravings.
This Chocolate Martini, however, takes literally 2 minutes to whip up and never disappoints! I mean it’s pretty boozy like Il Bombardino (a boozy Italian Eggnog Cocktail) which I LOVE but it’s not something you’d drink all night. One (or two) is definitely enough just like dessert!
What is Chocolate Martini Made of?
There are only 3 simple ingredients in this chocolate martini plus the optional garnish of whipped cream and chocolate shavings which is SO worth it;
- Cream de Cacao – a dark chocolate flavoured liqueur made from cacao beans. I used dark creme de cacao by Bols brand which also has subtle hints of orange and vanilla, delicious!
- Chocolate Baileys – creamy, rich and delicious the chocolate baileys adds an extra creamy chocolate hit that’s decadent and luxurious.
- Vodka – go for a higher quality brand as cheaper vodkas don’t have a great taste.
- Whipped cream (optional) – this is totally optional and I love this extra step on special occasions. Just top with a small spoonful of whipped cream and chocolate shavings for the ultimate indulgence!
How to Make the Ultimate Chocolate Martini – Step by Step
Gather all your ingredients (if you’d like to top with whipped cream get it ready now) and fill a cocktail shaker with ice (photo 1).
Pour in equal measures of chocolate baileys, Creme de Cacao, and vodka (photos 2-4).
Shake until everything is combined and ice cold then pour into a martini glass and top with grated dark chocolate.
Top Tips for Making the Ultimate Chocolate Martini
- If you don’t have chocolate Baileys you can use another chocolate liqueur like Godiva Chocolate Liqueur or regular Baileys. If you do use regular Baileys then the cocktail won’t have a rich, chocolatey flavour it’ll be more subtle (but still delicious).
- You can use dark or light creme de cacao. I used dark for a darker and richer looking cocktail.
- To make the martini extra decadent you can top it with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
- Try adding a swirl of chocolate sauce to the glasses for pouring the cocktail. It looks so impressive and gives an extra chocolate kick to the drink!
- If you’d prefer the drink at room temperature and not cold simply skip the ice and mix all the ingredients as normal although I recommend serving it cold as the liqueurs are very warming.
- You can’t go wrong with the measurements as long as you keep them equal.
Why Not Try It Warm?
You can also warm the cocktail mixture up in a saucepan (keep it on a very low heat and don’t let it boil) and pour it into a small heatproof glass or small mug before topping with whipped cream, chocolate shavings or sauce.
Take a look at this Italian Eggnog Cocktail as an example, it’s small, served warm but mighty powerful!
