A cosy and creamy Martini Macchiato cocktail. This fun cocktail is made with classic espresso martini flavours but with a splash of Irish cream liqueur to make it creamy and delicious. So easy to make and perfect for the festive season!

If you love an Espresso Martini you’re going to love this creamy, festive twist.
A Macchiato in Italy is an espresso with a splash of milk added, it literally translates as ‘marked or stained’. I thought it would be so fun to turn this coffee into a cocktail and here it is….a Martini Macchiato!
It’s so easy to make, no need to make sugar syrups so it’s super quick too.
It’s cold and creamy with a frothy top, perfect for sipping on at Christmas time but pretty perfect all year round too.

Pin It- Espresso – use good quality coffee for best flavour (we always go for 100% arabica). You can use a coffee machine, Moka pot or French Press just make sure it’s a strong espresso and not watered down.
- Kaluha – this is my favourite coffee liqueur to use and pretty easy to find.
- Vodka – I like absolute vodka for this although it’s not a deal breaker. You don’t need to use a extra expensive vodka but don’t use the cheapest either because they don’t taste great.
- Bailey’s – you can use any brand of Irish cream liqueur.
Step by step photos and recipe instructions
Brew the coffee – make a strong espresso coffee and fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
Add ingredients to shaker – add the espresso, vodka, Kaluha and bailey’s to the cocktail shaker (photos 1-3).
Shake and serve – shake the cocktail vigorously (the harder you shake the more foam you’ll create) then pour it into a cocktail glass. Top the coffee beans if desired and serve (photo 4).
Recipe tips and FAQs
- Use strong coffee – make sure to brew a strong espresso coffee so it adds a good amount of flavour!
- Remember equal parts! – this cocktail is so easy to remember because it’s equal parts of everything, you can’t go wrong.
- Sweeten it up – you make this slightly sweeter if you like by using vanilla vodka instead.
The foam on top of the cocktail comes shaking it. Just shake it hard in the cocktail shaker and it’ll create a delicious frothy foam on top.
